Location. Set in a 19th-century building, the Hotel de France is on the Ringstrasse boulevard in Vienna, Austria, 400 metres from the University of Vienna. The hotel is within one kilometre of key attractions including Stephansplatz square, the Spanish Riding School and Museum Quarter. Hotel Features. Built in 1872, the Hotel de France blends classic architecture with modern facilities. The marble-floored lobby has period features including wrought-iron staircase, crystal chandeliers and dark wood panelling.
Large windows and a terrace afford views of Vienna's street life in the split-level Bistro de France, serving American buffet breakfast (surcharge), and Viennese fare at lunch and dinner. Arches and fresh flowers set the scene for fine dining in the No. 3 restaurant, offering Mediterranean and Viennese dishes. Sushi Bar Daihachi serves sushi and teppanyaki dishes. The Atrium Bar offers drinks with live piano music in a room featuring contemporary art and chandeliers.
The Hotel de France houses conference rooms and wireless Internet access (surcharge) in public areas.
The 24-hour, top-floor fitness centre has weights and cardio machines, and offers complimentary soft drinks on the terrace. The hotel has an onsite shop and cinema.
Guestrooms. On six floors, the Hotel de France's 194 high-ceilinged guestrooms in soft blues and whites are decked out with brass chandeliers and original watercolours. Rooms feature air conditioning, complimentary high- speed Internet connections, safes, satellite TV, and complimentary minibars. Bathrooms offer bath/shower combinations and complimentary toiletries.
Expert Tip. In July and August, free films are screened at night in front of City Hall, 700 metres from the hotel.
