The boutique Hotel Telluride sits just four miles east of Telluride (Colo.), a premier ski resort in southwestern Colorado. During winters the Telluride Ski Resort offers downhill ski, snowboarding and cross- country skiing, and during summers the region abounds with outdoor activities, such as mountain biking, hiking and whitewater rafting. The Telluride-Mountain Village Station gondola, offering complimentary transportation between the two towns, is within walking distance of the hotel. Hotels guests, often celebrities, well- heeled skiers or sports enthusiasts, will enter the hotel lobby to experience a two-story atrium, with vaulted ceilings, exposed wood beams and a stone floor warmed with wool rugs. Before a day at the slopes or a on a bike, guests can enjoy a full breakfast buffet in the Bistro, which also doubles as an tavern at night, serving complimentary après-ski cocktails in the evenings during the winter and summer seasons. Lunch and dinner are not served, but guests can walk or take the complimentary shuttle to restaurants downtown. Spa treatments, steam shower, spa tubs and a sun deck are available at the Aromatherapy Day Spa.
The Hotel Telluride's 59 guestrooms feature balconies or patios with sweeping views of the 14,000-foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains. They are embellished with custom furnishings of dark-burgundy upholstered headboards anchoring the hotel's signature Incredible Beds with matching bedspreads set against crisp white, 250-thread- count embroidered sheets. The guestrooms also come complete with refrigerators, CD players and overstuffed sofas and arm chairs with ottomans. The hotel's spacious baths are graced with thick white terry-cloth monogrammed robes, huge towels, and Aveda Spa amenities.

From Montrose Regional Airport: Head southwest on Airport Road, from Montrose Regional Airport. Turn left onto US 50 E. Continue onto US 550 S. Turn right onto Sherman St (Hwy 62), and continue on Hwy 62. Turn left onto Hwy 145, and follow as it veers right, and then left. Continue onto W Colorado Avenue (Hwy 145). Turn left onto N Townsend Street. Turn right onto W Galena Avenue, and proceed to 199 N Cornet Street.
From Telluride Regional Airport: Telluride Express offers one-way and roundtrip shuttle or bus service from the Telluride Regional Airport and Montrose Regional Airport to the hotel. From Telluride Regional Airport, one-way fares start at $8 per adult; $16 for roundtrip. Adult fares to and from the Montrose Regional Airport cost $42-$78. Rental cars are also available and can be booked online.
Cars aren't necessary in Telluride. The pedestrian-friendly town is less than one mile in size and is connected to the Mountain Village ski base by a free, 13-minute gondola. The free town shuttle-the Galloping Goose-makes a counterclockwise loop through the town at regular intervals. In Mountain Village, free transportation is available via the Dial-A-Ride shuttle service.
Visitors with cars can leave them in the lodge parking facility or in the free lots located throughout the town and Mountain Village. Telluride's main and side streets have solar-powered parking meters located mid-block. Cost is 25 cents for 30 minutes, free after 6 PM.
